Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Usually termination of pregnancy about 22 weeks is little risky compared with termination in early gestation. The process of termination of pregnancy at 22 weeks usually mimic the vaginal delivery. Here what we do is, we induce either with foleys bulb or with prostaglandins and once the labor progresses it will be augmented with Oxytocin infusion. If everything goes well and fetus is delivered vaginally you can be discharged on next day, but if labour do not progress and need for hysterectomy means removal of the foetus through surgical route arises, it may take around 4 to 7 days for discharge depending on Hospital protocol. So you please discuss these things with your doctor and proceed accordingly.
I will be happy to help in any further follow up questions. Take care.
