Possible HIV exposure through unprotected vaginal sex. 14th day HIV-1 RNA, 25th day HIV-1 DNA PCR and Antibody, 33rd day HIV-1 RNA and HIV 4th Generation all NON-REACTIVE. Can this be considered conclusive? If not, what tests would you recommend at 6th week mark?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Your tests are very much conclusive. You had the antigen based tests repeatedly and all were negative. Especially,Test done after 28 days, (HIVRNA test and 4th generation Combo test) were more conclusive and you need no further test for HIV 1. Just forget about the incident and have your routine as usual. HIV 2 is a rarest possibility and to be ruled out by rapid test or repeating the 4th generation Combo test after 12 weeks. Have a great day. Dr S.Murugan
