How Can HIV Infection Be Diagnosed?

I had a HIV test done at labcorp it came back as 1.00 non reactive I haven t been exposed and I haven t been any kind of sexually active in 2 years my last results a couple years ago read the same thing at this lab, do you think they always just give negative patients a 1.00 instead of giving them their actual value and should I try a different lab? It makes me worry because 1.00 is the cut off range!

hello, if it's less than your test is negative. if you do a labcorp test 12 weeks after suspicious exposure and it came as less than 1 you are negative. be it .9 or .1 you are not infected with HIV. You don't have to do another test or go to a another lab you are negative for HIv. qualitative test are accurate than simple yes or no. If the value is between 0.9-1.0 then the Dr would decide whether you need a confirmatory test. hope this helps . thank you.
