How Can I Completely Resolve My Persistent Nasal Congestion And Can Prolonged Nose Blowing Lead To Hemorrhoids?

Hi doctor I m 25 years male one year ago l had septoplasty surgery for deviated nasal septum because I was suffering from nasal congestion most prominent symptom some times associated withe headachethat was very uncomfortable and distress me About ten months later the nasal congestion recurrent gradually increase withe time more at night and setting position especially when support on one side which become the side of Nose where more congestion which leads me to blowing my nose very hard for many time a day withe nothing discharge and I feel that the posterior part of nose is narrow but the headache not recurrent up to now . I have trailed amoxicillin/clavunic acid 500 mg bid for 10 day because I suspect chronic sinusitis but withe no Improvement lead me to stop drug After that I have fluticason spray leads to moderate improvement because I suspect that I have nonallergic rhinitis as I have known allergy and prominent nasal congestion persistent after age of 20 year also the nasal irrigation withe the normal saline improve symptoms . So what I have to do to get ride the symptoms completely and can the prolonged blowing leads to hemorrhoids as I feel there is some hotness perianal region at night only in setting position on blanket ?

Hello,

Prolonged nose blowing does not directly cause hemorrhoids but if there is an underlying condition of anal fistula or hemorrhoids it can be triggered. Get rectal examination done, get clinically examined by a GP, get evaluated to confirm if there is such underlying condition. In case hemorrhoid is diagnosed you are advised not to blow nose too strong.

Do not strain during bowel movements and avoid constipation. Take adequate amount of fluids and water. Add fiber in your regular diet. Take laxatives at bedtime. Maintain hygiene, keep anal area clean and dry. Avoid hot, spicy, oily food. Take homemade boiled food for a couple of days till you are better.

Septoplasty surgery should be performed by a specialist and experienced surgeon as it may cause complications even after surgery. Though it is a low-risk surgery but around 15% of the patients do not get relieve from symptoms after septoplasty. To alleviate the congestion and help unclog your nose, use humidifiers and saline nasal sprays.

For the persistent symptoms, get a follow -up clinical examination done by your surgeon to rule out infection, perforation in the septum after septoplasty that needs repair, etc. Get treated before the symptoms get worse.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
