hi my name is Cnjn I was born with hirschsprungs 47 yrs ago I have yet to find other adults living with this I had long segment and only live with part of my small bowel I would like to know of other people with this disease as all the info is about before and diagnosing h\p hope you can help
Hi thanks for your question. Your 47 years, old had undergone large gut resection for hirschsprung s disease and now living with small bowel only. By now you might have gathered lot of knowledge regarding hirschsprung s disease that it is a congenital disease due to lack of ganglion cells (nerve cells) in large gut resulting in constipation and dilatation of the large gut. It is not a very rare disease that you will not find any other patient with this disease. We at our hospital operate usually 1 to 2 cases per month. Consult a pediatric surgeon (Surgeon who is specialist in operating diseases in children) ‘he /she may be able to give you lot of information about other patients Hope this answers your question.
