How Can Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting And Painful Abdominal Bloating Be Treated?

Hello, I recently traveled to Cuba for ten days and was sick with GI symptoms. I had nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I assumed it was something I ate or drank. Two days after that incident I had terrible upper abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea. No vomiting. I got IV hydration at a hospital as well as pain meds and antibiotics. I have been home for three weeks and now have upper abdominal fullness especially after eating. I have been having pale stools that float. Any suggestions or thoughts on this situation? Thank you!

Hello,

Some advice that I can give to you is:

-Use simethicone medication.
-Avoid chewing gum.
-Limit your intake of carbonated drinks.
-Avoid foods that cause gas, such vegetables in the cabbage family, dried beans, and lentils.
-Eat slowly and avoid drinking through a straw.
-Use lactose-free dairy products (if you are lactose intolerant).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
