How Can UTI With Urination Infrequency And Pain Be Treated?
My daughter had a UTI for several weeks before we discovered it...she stopped using the toilet. Now she's been on antibiotic for a week and still doesn't want to use the toilet. She holds it a long time, but insists on having straight legs and leaning back to pee (which means it doesn't go in the toilet). It seems she's in pain (although she doesn't say so) and the most painless way to pee is standing straight (or the equivalent). Is there other pain she could be having now that the UTI should be under control (still another week of antibiotics to go)?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
* As per my clinical experience, the amount of pain is substantial and does not co-relate with simple urinary infection.
* I suspect underlying pelvic inflammation, calculus in the urinary system or others.
She requires an immediate ultrasound examination with lab tests for the final diagnosis and further management.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
