I had an MRI. Radiologist said there is a 6 mm nodule near the thyroid that is pushing on my vocal cords. I can feel it. Thought I had a sore throat due to allergies. Radiologist said it might be cartilage from the thyroid. Had half my thyroid removed 6 years ago due to Hashimotos. What should I do? Thanks.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Dear 6 mm thyroid nodule may won't cause pressure on vocal nodules so don't worry. Just confirm that is it cold or hot nodule by radio iodine scan. Throat discomfort may be due to infection or GERD.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
