How Can A Goiter Found In The Thyroid Gland Be Treated?
What does it mean when they say finding the right lobe of the thyroid measures 4.3x 2.0x1.4 cm and left lobe of the thyroid measures 3.9x1.1 x1.2 cm in diameter. Heterogeneous echo pattern of the thyroid lobes. The isthmus measures 3.0 mm in thickness . Hypoechoic nodule noted in the isthmus measures 0.3 x0.2x0.3 cm Impression Heterogeneous echo pattern of the thyroid lobes compatible with goiter . Further evaluation with nuclear imaging is recommended
Most of the thyroid nodules are found accidentally during imaging. If thyroid nodule is there means is it uninodular or multinodular or is it cold nodule or warm nodule or malignancy.
If it is benign with normal TSH may need observation. If it is causing compression and difficulty in swallowing need treatment. If it warm nodule need treatment by radioactive iodine or anti thyroid drugs. If it is malignant need surgical excision. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
