Hello, I accidentally got a spash of hot cooking oil on one of my eyes, while making yesterday s dinner. Its been a bit less than 24 hours and I still have a discomforting pain. It also feels scratchy when I move it around. Is it normal for it to still feel like this? What would you recommend me doing or taking to help it heal better? Or is this something urgent that I should take up with a visit to the ER? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you!
It will cause corneal injury and can cause corneal ulcer should be washed with clean water and get examined by ophthalmologist. It must have caused corneal erosion or ulcer. Cornea should be examined by slit lamp. Apply ofloxacin 1% eye drop 6 hourly before that record visual acuity. Fundus examination may be done to see for clarity of media. You can take analgesic tablet to get relief from pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
