Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
height 5 3 weight 238 age 40 MRI results: 1) Free edge fraying of the body of the medial meniscus. 2)Bone bruise of the posterior lateral femoral condyle. 3)Grade 1 MCL sprain. I would like to know treatment options because I have been in pain for almost 6 weeks? Thank you
Your symptoms can be treated conservative with rest for 4 weeks in long knee extension brace.Grade 1 mcl sprain most of the time heals in 3 weeks.
Bone contusions takes 6 to 8 weeks for healing and since 6 weeks has passed pain should start decreasing by now. Meniscus edge fraying can also be treated with rest.
If symptoms are not relieved after 3 month arthroscopy of the knee and meniscus balancing may be done.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Jayesh Vaza, Orthopaedic Surgeon
