I have a purple rash in my left armpit. It is painful to move my left arm. It started small (red) and has now (3 days later) turned purple. My right armpit looks similar to how the left one started out and has not changed. I have been putting diaper rash cream on it.
Hi. As per your case history you are having a furuncle or abcess. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
If it is very painful and bigger in size then you need surgical incision and drainage.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
