I have never been diagnosed with herpes or any other STD. A recent, first time sexual partner developed a rash on/near his genitals approx. 1 month or so after our contact. I have never had any of the symptoms that I have read about, except for the occasional cold sore, and I have been having those since I was like 10 or 11. He has also been taking antibiotics and steroids for newly diagnosed CHF. Couldn t he get a rash from that?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history, you are having a fungal infection called as Tinea cruris. My treatment advice is:
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily. 2. Apply an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole cream on the affected skin. 3. Take an antihistamine medicine like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral Fluconazole, Itraconazole, and Terbinafine medicines are taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
