How Can A Red, Itchy And Watery Eye Be Treated?

I had a real bad cold a few weeks ago and then developed a swollen gland on my left side of my neck and my left eye is red, itchy and watery. I was treated by our local urgent care DR with augmentin and an antihistamine eye drop for 10 days finishing the meds on 10/13. It seemed to be going away but now is bothering me again. Should I return to the urgent care DR or let this run its course?

Hello,

An itchy watery eye may be due to allergic conjunctivitis or viral or bacterial conjunctivitis. Is there any crusting of the canthi of an eye? Any matting of eyelashes? Is there any discharge from the eye? Until examination, it is difficult to say what it is. Use oral antibiotics and antihistamines under the guidance of your ophthalmologist. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
