How Can A Rib Bone Ingestion Be Confirmed?

My boyfriend cut his tongue pretty deep while eating ribs. It took nearly 10 minutes to stop the bleeding, which finally did stop, but we are concerned he ingested a bone. Is there anything we could really do or is this just a waiting game to see if a syptom pops up?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your boyfriend and understood the concerns.
it is a good news that the bleeding from the tongue due to eating ribs stopped, but then it is necessary to see whether the cut is deep enough needing a suture.
Also needed is to get the X-ray of the chest and abdomen to see whether there is rib in esophagus, stomach or intestines and if present needs wait and watch policy as you have well mentioned.
You can certainly give bananas orally so that it helps a bit.
Watch for pain in abdomen, distention and so on.
