How Can A Skin Rash On The Hips, Knees And Thighs Be Treated?
Hello doctor, I m a 21yr old female suffering from padmakata on my hips knees and thighs from quite a few years now and nothing seems to be an efficient cure for it. I have tried moisturising and reducing application of soap but nothing seems to work. Please help me.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I suggest you to use a moisturizer regularly on that area. In addition, you can apply a topical steroid, e.g., Mometasone Furoate 0.1% cream, twice daily. The topical steroid would expect reduce the redness and itching. However, if the itching is bothersome I would also suggest you to take an oral antihistamine, e.g., Cetirizine tablet once every evening for symptomatic relief from itching. Avoid putting harsh soaps or antiseptics like Dettol, Savlon to that area. Avoid vigorous scratching as the more you scratch the more it might worsen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kakkar S.
