How Can A Tender Bump On The Scalp Be Treated?

my daughter, 13, has what seems like a in grown ( ) pimple, a bump, that is a bit pink, but with no pimple head. It s a bit tender to the touch, and has been there, apparently, for at least 6 months. She did have lice about 6 months ago, and we treated it. She plays sports a lot, lots of sweating, but also frequent showers.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Perhaps it is an infected cyst, most likely a Pilar cyst. I suggest a week of an oral antibiotic for her, e.g., either Amoxicillin or Cephalexin. In addition, you can apply a topical antibacterial, e.g., either Neosporin ointment or Mupirocin 2% ointment, twice daily for a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kakkar S.
