How Can A Thumb Cut Causing Pain Be Treated?

I have a relatively deep cut on my thumb. It splattered when I cut it, but the bleeding pretty much stopped with pressure after ten to fifteen minutes. The pain however, is still there. I m wondering which over the counter pain medicine would be best to take. I ve heard that some can thin blood and aren t ideal to take in this situation. Thank you!

hello,
I have read your question. These type of injuries hurt quite a lot specially when any nerves are cut. I hope your thumb movements are normal and there is no feeling of weakness and numbness. I also hope that you have received tetanus toxoid injection . Following are safe painkiller like Brufen , Tramadol and Oxycodone. Specially latter two are having no blood thinning effect. I would also recommend you to take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefuroxime or amoxiclav as some time infection can also causes pain. I would also suggest you to apply ointment like mupirocin or betadine and avoid any water contact.
