How Can A Torn Ligament Be Treated?

I fell on my concrete driveway 6 weeks ago and thought from my medical experience: I had badly torn and twisted/torn my ligaments I used ice packs often and the swelling almost went away. However, I feel now I should have gone straight to ER! If I go to ER tonight will they help me and do surgery IF I am correct. Or will they tell me it s too late and they can t help me. I dislocated wrist and the radius and ulnarare fractured for sure and maybe some broken bones in a few of my flanges plus a fracture at upper arm and right shoulder!

Hi,

You need to get MRI scan done to see the ligament.

If the ligament is partially and incomplete tear most of the time it can be treated conservatively.

But if it is complete tear then reconstruction of the ligament is needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Gaurang B Shah,
