How Can A Wound At Open Heart Surgery Site Be Treated?

My mother had open heart surgery twice within two weeks of each other a year ago. She has an open wound where they opened her up that won t heal. She needs a valve replacement but cannot have it until this wound is healed. The wound clinic seems to think she might possibly have an allergic reaction to the mesh that was used to put her sternum back together. If that s the case what would her symptoms be possibly?

Hi.
As per your case history of wound after surgery, my treatment advice is -
1. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on affected skin.
2. Apply a placentrax gel twice daily on it for faster healing.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
