My chin broke out. At first I thought it was acne at age 57. When I tried to pull the white heads out they seem to spread. Ive never had a bad case of acne and I use a cleanser on my face daily. But I do have large pores on my skin. I am currently trying just Neosporin. It pulls white spots out as well. What should I do? What could it be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Adult acne is very common even at 50-60 year old.
If you have large pores, they could be the trigger for acne as the oil secretion is pronounced in such cases. Neosporin my not be enough in combating the acne. I suggest using an acne cream with Clindamycin in the morning and at night you could use a cream which has Adapalene/ Enzoyl peroxide.
Make sure you apply sunscreen after applying the morning acne cream. Also use a cleanser with Salicylic in it as it helps in reducing the oil content on the face. I also recommend you visit a dermatologist who could examine and advice you further in the same.
