How Can An Ear Infection Along With Vomiting And Fever In A Child Be Treated?
MY 8 YR OLD GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER HAS HAD A EAR ACHE WE TOOK HER TO THE DOCTOR TODAY NO FEVER AT 2PM EARS SHOW INFECTION , WE STARTED HER ON ARITHOMYCIN, ABOUT 3:30 SHE VOMITTED, NOW AT 5:30 SHE HAS A TEMP OF 102 AND SAYS HER NECK HURTS. ANY SUGGESTIONS WE DID GIVE A TYLINOL AT 5:20
In the care of children we must always be concerned about an illness that is dangerous. While an acute middle ear infection is usually serious, it is not dangerous. Your great granddaughter has a high fever and neck pain. These symptoms can be caused by meningitis which is a dangerous infection of the coverings of the brain.
The best advice I can give you is that she needs to be seen by a physician now to make sure she does not have a dangerous infection like meningitis. Take her back to her doctor immediately or if his/her office is closed, bring her to nearest emergency room as soon as possible. Few children can say they have a caring great grandmother.
She is a fortunate kid. Now, go have her health looked after.
