How Can An Injured Finger Be Treated?

I injured my finger 3 months ago. I could not bend my finger all the way. Only half way, I know it s not broke. But I still can t bend it to make a fist. My question is, what should I do? I have kept it taped up in a splint for 3 months. Should I keep it like this ? Or try working the finger out by trying to bend?

Hi,

Listen, my major advice here is that you need to do have an X-ray for it asap, and to get examined for the possibility of tendon/nerve injury.

You didn't provide us with details about the nature of the injury (blunt trauma or cut wound) so we can be more specific in answering you, but in both ways, an X-ray is of Paramount importance so we can reach a diagnosis asap, and proceed to the next step for management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ala' Hawa,
