How Can An Itching And Painful Sore On The Calf Be Treated?

Hi Dr. Samuel. N. Grief,

I am a 53 year old female nursing student , I weigh 165, I am 5'3. My most recent medical history is I was in the hospital last year with phenomena. I stayed in the hospital for one week of treatment. I weighed around 130 never higher and i believe the antibiotics has some thing to do with my gaining weight. I was told that antibiotics can act as a growth hormone. Anyway I am blown up and weigh more then i ever did. The anatomy teacher said i need to get my TSH checked T3 and T4.
The problem is I have had a sore on the back of my calf for over a year now. It keeps scabbing and drying out but in the center it seems to start brewing again and causing itching and scabbing. It got infected at me picking on the outside hard skin. It acts like proud flesh in the center never healing. When i first saw it , it was a brown cottony looking mole looking thing that was itching and i picked at it to heal it , I thought something might have gotten in their and I cleaned it out good. But now it never heals , its center is like proud flesh and its outside is red ,slightly swollen and painful to touch. I am a little worried because now i see something starting on my frontal lateral mid calf ,its like white inside hard and red circle pimple or bump. I haven't got a clue and i am scared to see a dr.
P.S and i am a nursing student , go figure.
