How Can An Itchy Rash At The Piercing Site Be Treated?
Hello, I got tragus pericing this year (2017) in march and developed a hypotonic bump on the pericing. I used pure tea tree oil to get rid of the bump, and it worked, but now I have a rash around the pericing . It is red, slightly swollen, and inflamed , and slightly itchy and I am concerned that it won t go away. I have tried hot compresses and first aid A&D help with the redness and inflammation. And it has been like this for 4,5 days now. What should I do to speed up the healing process?
Hi. As per your case history you are having infection at ear piercing site. My treatment advice is - 1. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 2. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days. 3. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
