Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 64 years old and was diagnosed with a 6 cm cyst on my left ovary and 5.5 cm cyst on my right ovary. I have had no symptoms and the cysts were found by accident during an ultrasound. I have been told that post menopausal women are at higher risk of these cysts being cancerous. The right one looks to be fluid filled but the OB/Gyn said the left one looks as if it has substance or matter in it. I have an appointment with an OB/Onc on Thursday but am freaking out as this is a complete surprise to me.
Your cysts are quite large. There are chances of accidental rupture of cysts. Yes that is true in post menopausal women there are chances of ovarian cancer but they may be Benign or malignant. Don't worry. This can be treated. Go to your doctor better you get it operated. After removing the cyst they will send it for biopsy this will help the nature and type of cyst. Don't worry.
Everything will be alright.
Now a days cure rate is good. Get your chest x ray done. And serum Ca 125 (a blood test).
Hope this will help you.
Get well soon.
Thank you
