How Can Arthritis In The Feet Be Treated?

I would like to know where to turn to help my foot arthritis before I lose my mobility. A year ago I had a talonavicular fusion and bone implant at UCSF. As soon as the boot came off I had other pain in various places in my foot. I have been back to my surgeon numerous times and have not found answers or solutions to the pain. I recently went to a foot doc at Stanford and he recommended a physiatrist to give me a series of 3 shots to see where the pain is coming from and suggested I might need a subtalar fusion. Is there someplace I can go where they will LISTEN to me and examine all possibilities. I feel this is more than one area in my foot. I am 74 and don't feel I have time to play Russian Roulette with my foot. I am 74 (my mother lived to 98) and have been walking with a cane because of the pain.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take NSAIDS twice a day for 5 days, you can take ANTACIDS twice a day for 5 days, apply Diclofenac spray on affected site, apply warm water bag on affected site. If not resolved then consult your orthopedic surgeon, do X-ray of affected part, do physiotherapy, it is also helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
