Hi,I am Dr. Aniruddha Malpani (Infertility Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am 31yrs old and am a bit worried as my wife and I have been trying for a baby..hmmm, I would say for the last 6months with no joy of conceiving. I asked my doctor to allow me to go for a semen analys last year november - 11,2009.
The following is a summary of the analys:
Days of Abstinence: 2.5 weeks
Liquefaction time: 10 mins
volume: 2.8ml
Viscousity: Normal
Motility: 18%
Progression: good/fair
colour: Normal
Comments: Asthenozoospermia (reduced sperm motility) however, note long abstinence period.
I would appreciate if you could advice me on the posible problems and what can be done to improve my sperm motility so my wife and I can stand a chance to have a baby and raise a family.
Thank you

How Can Asthenozoospermia Be Treated?
Hello Your semen analysis findings may indicate decreased sperm motility. Motility should be at least 55 %.Your findings suggests over all 18% motility,so it is low. Sperm morphology is normal.Only 16 % sperms should have normal morphology for natural fertilization. You should do exercise and take nutritious diet. You can also take anti-oxidants. You should avoid alcohol and smoking if you take these things. You also need clinical correlation and few investigations like random blood sugar, ultrasound of scrotum. If findings persists then you may need assisted fertilization technique like IUI. Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
