Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
The cream you have been using contains a superpotent
topical steroid,
halobetasol propionate. It is strictly not for use on face.
Potent topical steroids are prescription drugs and should always be used under the supervision of a
dermatologist. You should immediately discontinue it.
Regular use of topical steroids on face can rather lead to acne and resultant dark acne spots/pigmentation apart from causing other side effects like sun sensitivity, hirsutism in females etc
For acne you may use either topical
clindamycin Or topical
benzoyl peroxide gel during day time as a spot treatment for active acne.
At night I would suggest a topical retinoid e.g Adapalene Or Azaleic acid. Retinoids are comedolytic and therefore prevent formation of new acne apart from treating existing ones.
Retinoids also help lighten the dark spots/pigmentation due to acne.
I would suggest that you visit a specialist dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist will assess the condition and advice appropriately.
You may also opt for a few sessions of chemical peeling from your dermatologist. Chemical peeling would work for both acne as well as pigmentation.
