How Can Chronic Cough And COPD Be Treated?

my dad who is 87 years has copd, and right now pneumonia and has not been able to sleep for weeks because of constant coughing. I have heard that lortab has been effective on helping the coughing. He has had steriods, 2-3 rounds of antibiotics and no relief.

I really appreciate your concern, symptoms of coughing due to COPD is common condition and it takes pretty long time for coming around, if the steroid short is given then no need to try it again, actually it is the self limiting condition, bronchospasm need to be rule out if this is the productive cough then expectorant can be tried along with second generation antihistamine, mucolytic agent can also be tried like bromhexine or ambroxyle, these are all just agent to control the cough symptoms hope this information helps.
