Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Chronic cough in old age may be due to acid reflux disease, COPD, bronchial asthma, common cold, etc., until examination is done it is difficult to say what it. Avoid spicy food and cool drinks. Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for 5 days. Use bronchodilator or antitussive medication. Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for 1 week. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
