How Can Chronic Cough With Wheezing Be Treated?

Hi, I have a cough that I ve had for over a month and a half now. It started when I came down with back to back colds... then it seemed to settle in my chest . I ve been coughing and wheezing ever since. The last couple of weeks, I am getting a strange metallic taste when I cough. When I m trying to sleep, I am rattling and wheezing so much it keeps me from sleeping. I m not sure what it is. Can you tell me??

Hi.
Cough over one and half month with rattling and wheezing is suggestive of bronchospam, asthma like added with an infection.
You need to undergo blood tests to rule out infection, diabetes, eosinophilia and X-ray of the chest.
I would advise you to get a course of an antibiotic and mucolytic, bronchodilator in the for of oral tablets and sprays.
Also take steam inhalation to loosen up the mucus so that it can be easily expectorated.
Send the expectorated material for gram staining , AFB staining for tuberculosis, .
Further treatment will be according to the physical finding of rales and rhonchi which will be listed by stethoscope.
