Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my father is 72 years old..lost his apetite...and suffering from high constipation...not suffering from any known ailment...expect than having moderate high bp...pls prescribe medication/s so he gets back his appetite and gets rid of his constipation...!
Understanding your concern. As per your query your father is having symptoms of constipation which could be due to lack of fibres in diet, irritable bowel syndrome, eating a lot of dairy products, acidity and certain conditions like hypothyroidism. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement psyllium, calcium polycarbophil , osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity. For now drink lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
