How Can Constipation, Discomfort With Anal Fissure Be Treated?

my baby is nearly 4 months old and has difficulty with bowel movements since birth, at 4 days old she was severly constipated and this lasted for almost 3 weeks before we found a solution but she has never gone comfortably since, she has recently been diagnosed with an anal fissure and is now hholding her poos, how can i make her go? is giving her the runs a bad idead?

Hi,

Anal fissure can be secondary to constipation that seems in this case. For anal fissure you can use glycerin infant suppository, you can apply nitroglycerine cream over the affected area. However, I would also suggest investigating the baby to rule out Hirschsprung disease or hypothyroidism for that you need to consult your physician. It would be great if I could know her birth weight and current weight and type of feed she is using.
