I’ve had a cough with dark green phlegm for one week. Urgent care prescribed a course of prednisone and an expectorant. One week later no better. Severe coughing leading to sore throat and strained vocal chords.

You may be suffering from Acute bacterial pharygitis with bronchitis. Steroids may aggravate this problem so don't use. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water. Use salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Water vapor inhalation thrice a day for five days. Use tablet Amoxiclav thrice a day for five days. Use syrp Ascoril 2 teaspoon thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
