How Can Cough Be Treated While Suffering From Pneumonia?

My 14 y/o son was diagnosed with having pneumonia 3 weeks ago. Given antibiotics and sent home. He is still dealing with a cough, and it doesn't sound like it's any better. He has no fever, chills etc. just the nasty cough, with some white flem he spits up.

Hi,

Most Pneumonia get well by 2-3 weeks, though cough may linger for a longer time. Do continue to give him the medications prescribed. Cold weather may trigger cough so be careful to keep him warm.

Let him have plenty of rest, he should have a lot of water, soups & juice for it clears out cough. He may need need a sputum test & antibiotic if cough persists. Do not neglect as complications lead to bronchitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
