How Can Cough, Fever And Chills In A Child Be Treated?
A 10 year old boy is send home with a diagnosis of viral bronchitis. Symptomatic treatment is prescribed. The mother calls and states that her son is now 48 hours late having purulent productive cough, temp of 103 and chill and not eating. What plan is most appropriate?
A respiratory infection such as viral bronchitis can develop into pneumonia. The symptoms that you describe are compatible with pneumonia. I believe this child needs to be taken to either his primary care physician or the nearest emergency room as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your query.

I understand your problem and here is my advise to you. First of all, control the temp and give antipyretic. Also see the possibility to have another visit to your doctor as during this 2 days may have happen any complication and so your child may need other medication. Don't forget to give him healthy food and plenty of fluid. Try to use an aerosol with NaCl if you have at home because it helps in this cases.
