How Can Depression Be Treated While Being The Primary Caregiver To An Elderly Mother With Dementia?
I m the principal caregiver, my mom (86) is getting up less and less sometimes only 4 hrs. In a day. She has pain she cannot specify, dementia doesn t allow her to be with anyone else. I have anguish about this. I m suffering and probably drinking a little more than I should, I need a better solution
In my opinion, take care of yourself. Antidepressants are useful say, for example, escitalopram night dose increased. Do moderate exercise. Additional caregiver or community nurse to share the burden.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Gayathri
