How Can Diabetes In A Child Be Treated?

My 8 year old granddaughter is testing on levels on my glucose machine. Just because she is over weight I have concerns about her getting diabetes. She tested 301 and the 2 mins later she was 133. So you think this is the machine acting up or something I should be concerned about. i checked mine and they seem off too, what should kids her age levels be?
