How Can Diarrhea And Vomiting Caused By Triamcinolone Cream Be Treated?
Hello, my 4 year old has scabies. For the itch I have been applying triamcinolone 0.1% cream. I applied it on his body yesterday & today he woke up throwing up and a little diarrhea. After about 30 min-an hour or so of throwing up, he stopped and felt perfectly fine all day with no symptoms. Then at night I gave him a bath and then applied it on him again. About 3 hours later he woke up with bad diarrhea and vommiting again. Can the cream be causing this reaction? What should I do?
Topical application of Triamcilone will not cause nausea or vomiting. For scabies , the ideal treatment would be application of permethrin over the skin. Itching can be treated with oral hydroxizine. For vomiting and loose stools, oral emeset and plenty of oral fluids will help. I would suggest you to hydrate the child adequately and get a pediatric dermatologist opinion for continuation of Triamcilone.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
