I am almost 68 - for the last 2 weeks - I have had diarrhea - I have taken Imodium A-D - then tried Pepto-Bismol Max -- all these have done is keep me off the pot longer -- I still have the Diarrheal - I no that this can't be good because it is like Hershey's Dark Ice Cream syrup - very dark - these are my symptoms.. Can you give me some advice ?
Hello Welcome to Ask a Doctor service I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Passing a stool three to four time in day is normal one and may not need any treatment, consistency and the color or stool is depends upon the diet taken, if the symptoms persists for days then try to change the diet first, diarrhea should never be checked with the medicine called Imodium because it may cause the paralytic ileus, on tentative basis or empirically Metronidazole can be tried twice in day for five days else the ideal way is to get done the stool examination for correct diagnosis Hope I have answered your query, let me know for further assistance.
