Hi,

Indigestion is the main cause of feeling of fullness in the stomach (Dyspepsia). It manifests as pain or uncomfortable feeling in the upper area of abdomen during or after meals. This indigestion may be caused by over-eating or eating wrong kinds of food such as spicy or oily foods. Other symptoms may be nausea, belching, flatulence, feeling of bloating or heart burn etc.

Also the feeling of bloated may be due to some of other reasons, like irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance or celiac disease etc. Stomach fullness when not eating anything may be due to-Peptic ulcers, gastroparesis as well as benign or malignant tumors of stomach & other abdominal organs.

Hence in this case, the treatment will depend on the cause of your symptoms. To find the cause UGIT Endoscopy or even colonoscopy may be advised. Particularly, if your gastroenterologist is suspecting a peptic ulcer ,the endoscopy is the primary test to confirm / rule out the presence of ulcer and also if ulcer is present, then its cause by biopsy etc.

In the mean time, you can take care of your symptoms by avoiding heavy meal at a time and substituting it by frequent short meals , eating healthy diet which is not much oily or spicy. Use of antacid syrups or acid suppressing tablets (PPI) may give temporary relief in your symptoms for the time being.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It's possible that the fullness and bloating you are experiencing could be related to your suspected ulcer. Ulcers are open sores that develop in the lining of the stomach or small intestine, and they can cause a variety of symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating, and fullness.

While an endoscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing an ulcer, a negative stool test for H. pylori can also be a good indicator that an ulcer may be present. Other diagnostic tests, such as an upper GI series or a CT scan, may also be used to confirm the diagnosis.

In addition to your suspected ulcer, there are other conditions that can cause bloating and a feeling of fullness after eating, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), lactose intolerance, or celiac disease. Your gastroenterologist may want to further evaluate these possibilities if your symptoms persist.

In the meantime, there are some lifestyle changes you can make that may help alleviate your symptoms. Eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day rather than large meals, avoiding foods that trigger your symptoms (such as spicy or fatty foods), and drinking plenty of water can all help with digestion and reduce bloating. Over-the-counter medications such as antacids or acid reducers may also provide relief for symptoms related to an ulcer.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
