Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I weigh 105 lbs and have been diagnosed with diverticulosis. I have been trying to follow a high fiber diet as recommended by the doctor who did my last colonoscopy. I find it difficult to come up with a balance of high fiber foods that don t disrupt my system and send me into diarrhea. Do you have any suggestions? Also I m a 72 year old female.
There is no treatment required for asymptomatic diverticulosis. Treatment only occurs if there are symptoms or complications. In addition, Fiber-rich foods can reduce gases and pain in your stomach, but you should not increase the fibers contents to the extent that cause diarrhea for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Abed Tahrawi
