my lips start with a chapped dry feeling..and feels like a small bug bite on top and bottom lip. then both lips swell until they bleed..and are huge. the swelling goes up into my face. the doctor has done many tests. no herpes. no answers. a strong steoid makes the swelling drain. and it appears to heal. then in about a month it comes back. seems to be related to cold weather. i work in a factory
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query you have symptoms of dry, chapped, and swollen lips which could be due to allergic reaction, angioedema, and due to excessive exposure to sunlight as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take an anti-allergic such as Levocetrizine and apply cool compresses over it. Avoid touching and scratching it to prevent further inflammation. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. In case if the condition worsen or there is no improvement in one week consult dermatologist once and get evaluated and start treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
