How Can Ear Infection And Muffled Hearing Be Treated?
I am waiting for an appt with an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. My family dr. told me today that I have glue ear. 1. Is it safe to fly with glue ear. I have a flight booked on April 29th. 2. I am on Amoxicillin as last week she said I had symptoms of an ear infection. Should I stop taking Amoxicillin as I have significant ringing in the impacted ear? 3. Is there anything I can do to relieve the symptoms of glue ear. My hearing is very muffled. I am using a steroid nasal spray, using Hydrosense, and taking Reactine due to allergy related nasal congestion.

Flying with Glu ear is problematic it may cause rupture of membranes or tinnitus or vertigo etc. You can use decongestants, frequent chewing and yawing is useful. Use nasal decongestant spray along with water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he may insert gromet into the ear and guide you accordingly.
