Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom is aged about 69. Her heart beat is 38/min. Cardiologist has advised for pace maker implant. She was suffering from seizure but that has stopped after having Livera 250mg prescribed by the Neurologist. Her sugar reading is 188 and 209 pre and post fasting. Is there a way to improve heart rate without pace maker? I mean by medication?
After going through your query I understand your concern for your mother.
I would like to tell you that low heart rate can lead to seizures but treating seizures will not correct the heart rate back to normal. A slow heart rate can be normal but can be a sign of problem with heart's electrical system that means heart's natural pacemaker is not working.
It's advisable for you to get a HOLTER test done for 48 hours to evaluate if there is significant low heart rate that needs to be corrected. If you already have undergone this this test and a cardiologist or electrophysiologist has advised for pacemaker then you should get this done to avoid life threatening episodes.
Hopefully this will answer your query.
Kind Regards Dr. Navneet Mahajan
