How Can Excessive Phlegm And Breathing Difficulty Be Treated?

Hi,I have more than a year with phlegm, started with phlegm similar to the flu, but in these last months it is getting thicker and I find it difficult to breathe. A few weeks ago, I was told that my asthma was active, which I had not been given for 6 years, supposedly it was activated because of a virus, but still the phlegm and breathing my left lung hurts. Every time I go to emergencies, they tell me it s viral and this gets worse and worse.
