Hello Dear, There is no cure for acne but it can be effectively controlled with medicines. the cause of acne is hormonal. once you stop treatment, there is a high chance of recurrence of the acne as the cause cannot be eliminated. However with increasing age ,in most cases, acne tends to spontaneously resolve. Once acne is under control , it is advisable to continue visiting your dermatologist at regular intervals who will continue certain topical medications so that new acne lesions do not come and the condition is kept under control. you may need this maintainance treatment for a couple of years also. so please do not stop treatment abruptly. You have not mentioned your gender and whether you are married or not, as the treatment modality varies from person to person and also on gender and the severity of your acne. However you may apply Benzoyl Peroxide cream 2.5% once daily. Also,since you are getting big pimples only topical medications wont help. you will need oral prescription medicines for the same. Sadly there is no cream or oral medication which is totally devoid of side effects. however they are very safe if given under doctor s observation. Also since you are getting scars on your face, it is better to show to a good dermatologist in your area for scar treatment. there is currently no effective cream for scars. Surgery , lasers and peels are some good options. scar treatment can only be done once your acne is under control. A good way to prevent new scars from forming is to stop popping or touching the acne on your own as it leads to more infection and scarring.
