How Can Fatigue And Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From Low RBC Count Be Treated?

I have low red blood cell count and doc wants me to take Ferrous Sulf325mg tab car 3 times a day. I found it gave me too much constipation problems. So I take 1 or 2 a day. I am facing a lot of fatigue, and low energy, and shortness of breath lately at age (gulp) 68. Also I sleep A LOT. I need more energy and umph back in my life to get things done. Help if you can. I appreciate any advice. Dalene Matschke

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your lack of energy is due to anemia.
I suggest you to continue your treatment with Ferrous Sulfate 325mg to treat anemia.
You can also take vitamin b complex and vitamin c to increase the energy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
