How Can Finger Trauma Causing Redness, Stiffness, Pain And Swelling Be Treated?

Last monday, i was pulling a young black beery from back of my house and the thoren went on the joint of my right hand baby finger. I took it out but it is stiff and quite swallen. I went to a doctor who gave me anti biotic but my hand is red and stiff painfull and swallen. What to do?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you got thorn in the joint of baby finger .Thorn was removed . You also went to doctor who has given you antibiotics but your hand is still painful and swollen.If you have no fever then no need to worry much. You can take analgesic such as diclofenac to reduce pain along with antibiotics which you already is taking.Some times swelling is due to reaction due to thorn . In this case you will need small operation to clean tissue making it free of part of throne which may have broken inside, for this you may need to visit doctor. So if swelling does not reduce within 5-7 days then you should think about this. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful.
